Die musiek

Gabriel Fauré (1845 - 1924)

"Ek sien die dood as 'n blye bevryding, 'n verlange na 'n vreugde verby die graf, eerder as 'n pynlike ervaring", het Fauré gesê. Die hoofwerk van die konsert begin en eindig met die woord Requiem, en dit word in elke deel herhaaldelik getoonset. Omtrent alle verwysings na die vrees van veroordeling is uitgelaat uit die standaard liturgie van die Mis vir die Dode.

A Sicilienne is an old dance type in slowish time and swaying rhythm. This arragement for harp and flute of the Sicilienne by Gabriel Fauré is played by Gaylen Sales and David Venter

Die Cantique de Jean Racine is 'n pragtige toonsetting van 'n gebed, wat Fauré gekomponeer het toe hy net 19 jaar oud was.
